Upcycling is the process of taking old things that don't really work anymore, and
applying something new them to increase its value, e.g. taking an old shirt and
embroidering something new onto it.
There are sustainable fashion brands popping up all over the world which use the principles of upcycling to create new products out of old fashion. Brands like titanic denim. Use upcycling to create their entire line of stalk. It is a form of what is known as Eco fashion. There are some eco pages on the serc website, here is a screenshot from one of them.

Upcycling has many positives but also some negatives, we can now find more uses for things that would normally end up in a landfill we can turn plastic bottles into fibres like Polyester, this is cheaper than processes of producing wool or cotton fibres. Here's a website that discusses upcycling and its benefits and draw backs.
